Buy too little and you'll run out partway through, which is the most common cause of a patchy finish. Buy too much and you'll have kit left on the shelf. Measure your floor first, then choose the size below.
How to measure
Multiply the length of the floor by its width, both in feet. A 20 ft by 15 ft room is 300 sq ft. If your floor falls between two sizes, go up a size.
Colored kits for solid color floors
Solid color floors take two coats of colored epoxy, and each size below covers the floor with both coats:
- 3 quart, $59.99: up to 75 sq ft
- 1.5 gallon, $119.99: up to 150 sq ft
- 3 gallon, $239.99: up to 300 sq ft
- 15 gallon, $1,299.99: up to 1,500 sq ft
For floors from 1,500 to 2,000 sq ft, the calculator combines kits to cover the floor, such as two 3 gallon kits with one 15 gallon kit for 1,900 to 2,000 sq ft.
Bare or freshly ground concrete soaks up more of the first coat, so if your floor is bare, go up a size.
Solid color floors don't need a top coat. The calculator lists only the colored base coats for these floors.
Clear kits for a clear coat over a finished floor
- 3 quart, $57.95: up to 75 sq ft over two coats
- 1.5 gallon, $115.95: up to 150 sq ft
- 3 gallon, $229.95: up to 300 sq ft
- 15 gallon, $1,199.95: for larger projects

Flake floors
Color flake goes over a single base coat, which covers about 250 sq ft per gallon. The flake system then needs a PP-80 polyaspartic top coat. Plan on these coverage rates:
- Full broadcast: 100 sq ft per gallon
- Medium broadcast: 140 sq ft per gallon
- Light broadcast: 180 sq ft per gallon
Flakes are sold by the pound:
- Full broadcast: about 12 sq ft per lb
- Medium broadcast: about 17 sq ft per lb
- Light broadcast: about 25 sq ft per lb
Our Most Popular colors come in a 20 lb box ($59.80, covers about 240 sq ft at full broadcast) and a 40 lb box ($119.60, covers about 480 sq ft at full broadcast). You can also buy them by the pound, from a 10 lb minimum in 5 lb increments, at $4.29 per pound. Boxes cost less per pound, so buy by the pound only when you need less than 20 lb.
